Testimonies
My name is Jason Stryd. I am a church planter/missionary in NE Philadelphia, church planting among Albanian immigrants. I wanted to take the opportunity to recommend to you Robert Carr as a church planting mentor/coach.
I have been meeting individually with Robert regularly now for over 3 years. My relationship with Robert has been incredibly helpful and one of the significant factors that has kept me not just persevering in ministry but thriving in it and enjoying it. Robert and I began our coaching relationship while he was in Africa and we talked on skype. Later when he returned to the US we met in person. God used Robert specifically to encourage me and challenge me in relating across cultures and in dealing with my own weaknesses. He has always been gracious but also truthful. From the first day he has been committed to me and my family thriving in this ministry opportunity.
My wife and I also worked with Robert through the “Sonship” material put out by Serge (formerly World Harvest). This was a monthly or every other month discussion that we would have after my wife and I had individually worked through the material on our own. The material is focused on applying the gospel to your individual life and relationships. Robert helped us process what we were learning, pointed out issues and weaknesses and helped us apply it to our marriage and lives. He did a great job of listening to us and guiding us in our walk towards greater intimacy with Christ.
I unhesitatingly recommend Robert as a coach/mentor. His ministry experience is vast including many types of situations. He is gifted in his ability to come alongside someone and encourage and challenge them. He understands the human heart and the dynamics of sin, ministry and leadership. And of most importance, he loves Jesus and continues to strive to walk humbly with our Lord.
It is a great pleasure for me to write this recommendation letter for Rev. Robert Carr! My name is Diogo Inawashiro, and I am a church planter/missionary in Philadelphia, church planting among Portuguese Speakers Immigrants. I wanted to take the opportunity to recommend Robert Carr to you as a church planting mentor/coach.
Since 2017, when we started this church planting, Robert has been my coach and mentor. We have had meetings in groups and individually for almost four years. No doubt, Robert has helped me a lot! I can say that God has used him specially to encourage me and challenge me in dealing with my own weaknesses. I really appreciate Robert’s care for my life, family, and ministry.
Beyond being my coach and mentor, Robert has also been a crucial member of our provisional session. Many times, he helped and supported me to make hard decisions. In other words, I have learned a lot from him! Furthermore, in the next semester, my wife and I would like to work with Robert through the “Sonship” material put out by Serge (formerly World Harvest). We believe that Robert will help us process what we were learning, pointed out issues and weaknesses, and allow us to apply this material to our marriage and lives. So, we hope that God uses Robert to help us in our walk towards greater intimacy with Christ.
Given all of this history, you can rest assured that Robert’s ministry has been a great blessing for not only my life, family, and ministry, but also to the advancement of the kingdom of God! Indeed, a great leader and a humble God-fearing man!
I am writing this recommendation for Rev. Robert Carr. My name is Paul Kim and I am serving as the lead pastor of Gracepoint North Church. I would like to recommend Robert Carr as a ministry mentor and coach.
I have had the privilege of being mentored by Robert since early 2016. As an eager young pastor about to start a new church, I was introduced to Robert Carr through the church planting committee of the Eastern PA Presbytery (PCA). Over the years, I have been personally mentored by him, as well as coached in a group setting through our church planting cohort.
Robert Carr offers precious insight from a lifetime of ministry and time on the mission field. Some of his experiences include: mission work in Africa, involvement with ESL ministries in the inner-city, pastoring at a unique multicultural church, and his on going efforts in coaching church planters amongst immigrant groups. His experiences reveal his special heart for the gospel to reach the nations and humility to learn from those diverse cultures. But by far one of Robert’s strengths are to steer his mentees back to the heart of the gospel, helping us find genuine rest in the work of Jesus Christ. He has always been a voice of wisdom that helped us to focus on our relationship with God, rather than getting lost in the busyness of church planting.
I hope that this recommendation may help in any of Robert’s pursuits in ministry. He is a man of character, and will be continue to be a blessing for the work of God’s kingdom!
